dr_gritzka
Dr. Gritzka is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a certified independent medical examiner.  He attended Harvard College, where he received the Detur’s Prize for scholastic excellence. Dr. Gritzka graduated summa cum laude in biology from Harvard College.  He is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and was a National Scholar at both Harvard College and Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Gritzka served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force medical service; during his tour of duty in Germany he was a forensic pathologist.

Dr. Gritzka completed a five-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Washington.  During the fourth year he was a research fellow with the National Institute of Health.

Dr. Gritzka is licensed to practice medicine in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Utah and Idaho.  He does agreed exams for the Washington Department of Labor and Industry and commissioned exams for the Washington Board of Industrial Appeals.  He is a Second Independent Medical Examiner for the Alaska Worker’s Compensation Board.  When first asked to do agreed exams for the state of Washington, he was told that agreed examiners are chosen on the basis of “knowledge, balance and fairness”.

Currently Dr. Gritzka has an active conservative orthopaedic practice, which occupies about 20% of his time.  80 % of his current practice consists of independent medical exams, of which about half are done for “the claimant” and about half for the “defense”.
